| How much am I allowed to invest in a stakeholder scheme? |
If you are not earning, you are allowed to invest a maximum annual contribution of £3,600 that takes into account your own payments into the pension scheme, payments made by your company (your company is however not obliged to make contributions) and the tax relief you receive from the government (Inland Revenue). You can usually choose to make regular payments or less frequent lump sum payments. If you are earning, you can also contribute a set percentage of your gross income depending on your age. You can take out as many Stakeholder Pensions as you like so long as your total annual contributions fall within the £3,600 limit.
