Raising The State Pension Age For Women Print E-mail

By 2020 the pension age for both men and women will be 65. The change in the age for women will be gradually phased in between 2010 and 2020 and will have an effect on women born before April 6 1950.

The pension age for women born between April 6 1950 and April 5 1955 will be between 60 and 65 years year.

With people living longer, the pension age is going to gradually increase over the next few decades (see section on The Pensions White Paper). With people living longer, in the future there will be even fewer workers to pay for the pensions of the retired.
